Digital Cinema Experience !

This week I was in chennai for my Vacation. Rains and floods never bothered me. I came here to enjoy and forget my office for sometime. I watched Harrypotter 4 at sathyam cinemas in Digital format. This is the latest technology where there is no picture reels and the movie will be projected from a HD-DVD with special projecters. It reduces the cost of the picture reels by 4 times and it is protected. Unlike the picture reel technology this prevents piracy and the quality of the film remains the same even after 100 or 200 days. With this technology the cinema experience will get a new dimension. It will take some years for the theatres to upgrade to the digital format and once upgraded it will defnitely attract the movie buffs to the theatres.

Thanks to Sathyam theatres for providing a nice quality sound system and advance wishes for the IMAX cinemas.

How Digital cinema works

Digital cinema playback systems control and monitor all aspects of the digital cinema process. Once digital material is delivered to the theatre, the theatre’s digital cinema playback system facilitates the storage and management of content while providing for efficient system operation, seamlessly interfacing with existing theatre automation and sound systems. Simple point-and-click commands enable the projectionist to assemble platters, consisting of digitized trailers and features, in a matter of minutes. These digitized "platters" give the projectionist the ability to present the material with the push of a button. Next, each encrypted, compressed digital image is sent to the projector, where it is decoded for screening, while a high quality, multi-channel audio track is simultaneously sent to the audio processor. Exhibitors enjoy better control over content presentation, protection through password access, compatibility with current procedures, potential for new programming and cost reduction.for more information on Digital Cinema Experience you can visit:
